About the service

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has four approved botulinum toxins, for cosmetic treatment. These are known under the brand names of Botox, Xeomin, Dysport and Jeuveau. These are all derived from a common source bacterium: Clostridium botulinum.

Botulinum toxins can be strategically injected for cosmetic purposes as well as for medical treatments such as migraine headache, overactive bladder, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and certain neuro-muscular disorders such as blepharospasm (eye twitching) and cervical dystonia.

At Stellar Health and Skin, we use Xeomin and Botox for cosmetic purposes to treat fine lines and wrinkles. Xeomin is a newer agent and is purer form of botulinum toxin.

How the botulinum toxin is used for cosmetic treatment

The Xeomin or Botox injections block chemical signals between nerves and muscles to prevent muscle contraction. These temporarily relax facial muscles from contracting which can contribute to facial wrinkles such as frown lines and Crow’s feet. These injectable medications can last 4-6 months, and the duration of effect is dependent on where and how much are injected.

There are two primary types of wrinkles:

Dynamic wrinkles show when we frown, or smile and they disappear
when our muscles are at rest.

Static wrinkles are deep lines, and they are visible even when we are
not expressing our emotions and our muscles are relaxed.

Areas we treat with Xeomin/Botox:

Xeomin and Botox are excellent for clients who want to enhance their appearance, and smooth facial lines and wrinkles without surgery.

Forehead lines: When we express our surprise by raising our eyebrows or looking upward, our forehead muscles (frontalis) contract to lift our brows. Over time, we gradually develop our expression lines and wrinkles.
Xeomin or Botox can block muscle contraction to soften and/or prevent further worsening of forehead lines and wrinkles.
Frown lines: These are vertical lines between the eyebrows when we express our concern, worry, sadness or anger.
By injecting Xeomin or Botox into the area, we can smooth frown lines and/or make deep lines less noticeable.
Crow’s feet:When our eyes express our happiness, sadness, or anger, we develop fine lines and wrinkles on the outer corners of our eyes by contracting muscles. Xeomin or Botox can help prevent wrinkles by relaxing those muscles.

Smile Lift and smoker’s lines: These are quick procedures to lift corners of mouth and reduce fine lines around the mouth.
We can use Xeomin or Botox in conjunction with dermal fillers to noticeably improve the appearance around the mouth.
Dimpling of chin: As we age, some of us have overactive mentalis resulting in an “orange peel” appearance of chin. Xeomin or Botox can be applied to this area to relax the mentalis and soften the chin muscle, enhancing your youthful appearance.
Neck lines and wrinkles: Xeomin or Botox injection to neck bands (platysmas) can improve the neckline by relaxing muscle contraction. These injections can help prevent more new lines and wrinkles forming, while also tightening the skin around the neckline.
